Through a rakeback promotion, I got a copy of HEM. I've been playing online poker casually for about a year -- what stats would be good for me to start tracking in the HUD? |

I think virtually every HUD should have the following stats, at a minimum:
I think that's a good set of basic stats virtually every HUD should have for each opponent. You can easily fit these with room left over into a typical 4-panel "hollow box" layout. Then the question becomes what custom/advanced/obscure stats do you want, in addition to the basic palette. But if you have no idea what these stats mean or how they're interpreted I'd start with the Big 3 (VP$IP, PFR, and AF) as that's what you'll see discussed everywhere, and then I'd start bringing other stats in as I felt I had a handle on their interpretation. Perfect answer.

It's depend on your preflop and postflop strategy. Write down your basic lines what you will use in your play. You should find out which stats you should consider in EV calculation of the line. (For instance if there is a c-bet in your line you should consider villain's fold to c-bet.) Write down these stats for all lines and you get which stats you should put to the HUD. If you did not do this "line check" job yet or you are a starter then I think VPIP+PFR is enough. There is no reason to put other stats if you don't know exactly why you put them out. Maybe you can put out one more stat: aggression percentage. But these aggression stats are obsolete because there are more specify stats. |

I think it also depends on exatly what you are playing? Cash? Tourneys? HU SnGs? Dangerous is not the opposite of fishy. When an 40/2 fish raises, get out of the way of that raise unless you have speculative hand.

I think my overall point is clear though... and what I am saying is the '2' (I assume you mean PFR) would be a dangerous stat, cos it means they only raise premium hands... (so would be RED in my HUD) And why would you call with speculative hands only (implying folding better hands)? In another related question I provide actual values... perhaps that would make what i mean clearer reading that?
