I've run a lot of tournaments in the past few years, but last week something came up that I've never had to deal with before. During my biweekly home tournament series I was involved in a hand that was heads up on the turn. The turn action was completed and the dealer laid out the river card. It was a blank and I hard a weak straight already made. My opponent said "check", and I said "straight" - but then the dealer says "Oops, I didn't burn a card". I think if no action had taken place, the card that was laid out gets shuffled back into the deck, and the burn and the river are redealt. (Someone can tell me if that's wrong) But as soon as my opponent said "check", there was action from the shown card. Then I declared my hand, which clearly was not made on the river. What should we have done at that point? |

I'm not sure what's right in this situation. But Bob Ciaffone's rules of poker are regarded as some of the best and most comprehensive. You might consult that for an answer. Or better yet, his rules for home games: http://www.pokercoach.us/RobsPkrRulesHome.htm

I agree with answer number 1, and would like to add that you are correct to assume that had no action taken place, the cards would be reshuffled. That had happened previously in a hand I was involved in at a B&M. |
